Followup Report: City of Isleton 1997 - 1998 Complaint #98-62
For the past several years, Sacramento County grand juries have investigated various issues regarding the City of Isleton. The 1997-1998 Sacramento County Grand Jury conducted a special investigation into the policies and procedures of the Isleton Police Department and Isleton city government.
The 1997-1998 Sacramento County Grand Jury discovered there were no policies or procedures in place for any of the city's departments. In addition, the city had no cash handling procedures and incoming mail was not being logged prior to being forwarded to the addressee.
In January 1999, the 1998-1999 Sacramento County Grand Jury went to Isleton to determine whether recommendations of the previous year's Grand Jury had been implemented. The Grand Jury learned that: A new chief of police has implemented General Orders for the Police Department, where previously there were none; the mayor and the City Council are actively seeking grants to fund special projects for the city; the city's management offices were currently located in a temporary building while new City Hall facilities were being constructed.
At the time this report was compiled, the Grand Jury discovered that the City of Isleton policies and procedures were in the process of being written, and had not been adopted by the City Council.
The mayor, City Council, chief of police, administrative staff and the many volunteers who assist them are to be complimented on the City of Isleton's new image.
